Pics from Trips

Here is the place to put some of my favorite pictures from my bicycle trips around mountainous Greece. I am not a good photographer nor I use expensive cameras, Photoshop or any other filter app. Just an old compact camera that tries to capture some of the magic of the beautiful places I get to see while on a bike.

This is the lighthouse in the southern part of Lefkada Island (stll working). Beautiful view and a breathtaking cliff right in front! We spent a night there. I am the guy with the orange hat just waking up…

We spent the night in a beautiful forest clearing close to Pramanta Village. The birds singing beat my alarm clock

 

The sun was dawning and we had to find a place to spend the night. The cemetery was the obvious choice…

A breathtaking view to Mirtos, the most famous beach of Kefalonia. Right here, the recent earthquake of 2014 created a huge crack on the rock above the beach, cutting the road in half. The road is still under construction but fortunately, we are cyclists, and cyclists can go everywhere!

A quick rest after Souvardo village on a bench with incredible view on the dense forests. This rough road leads to Tsivlou Lake and then to Doxa Lake (we were cycling for 2 days on this road and we didn’t see a single car).

If you are stressed, just go for an overnighter in the woods!

The majestic rocks of Meteora (you can look it up on google). These huge rocks host many old monasteries with hundreds of monks living in them. It’s a spectacular view!

This is the point I was looking at when I was still at the Eges village. I sat there and relaxed looking at a 360 view.

After having a conversation with a local shepherd we started heading back.

Few kilometres further up another bench with even more beautiful view. We decided to call it a day and sleep here so we can wake up looking at this view!

We were happy rolling down the hill and almost missed that!

This mother goat just gave birth to this cute baby! We were lucky enough to come across this beautiful sight while cycling on Panachaikos mountain.

A beautiful gravel road in Iti mountain. I don’t think I have been in a better cycle path.

Not alwas easy to find a luxurious sleeping place like this, but when you do, you feel like a king!

The Greek Grand Canyon? Nope.. But it’s very nice and it’s not too far away from the city centre.

I was trying to have a poo in peace under the heavy rain while they were laughing, yelling and taking pictures of my smiley ass!

I’ve been to that mountain more than 15 times and every time something takes my breath away.

Crazy moments. After hours and hours on skin ripping trekking full of wild vegetation with nasty spikes, we found this majestic place

Vouraikos Gorge jurassic park scenery. According to mythology this gorge was created when Hercules sliced the rocks open with his sword to find the woman he loved. Her name was Voura.

The magnificent caves of mnt Varasova. This mountain is considered holly, because in the post Byzantine period it was full of monasteries as well as eremites living in those caves.

We’ve tried to sleep inside the caves in the background but was impossible, so we slept on a very nice flat space with 360 degress breathtaking view
