Few days ago, we decided to visit one more time the famous Panachaiko (the biggest mountain of the area). I have visited this place more than 30 times, but it’s a beautiful mountain and I usually don’t complain. The plan was to reach the beautiful green plateau at the top (you can search the blog for a previous ride there) which is quite high up (few meters above the highest peak). The ride is long and quite hard and we only had few hours before sunset. During the first 15 klms after a big stop at a church, Ody, a guy from the team spotted a nice green meadow with beautiful view 360. So we decided to deviate from the route and go eat some lunch there. Unfortunately due to the fact that the place was beautiful we stayed there a lot more than we should. We also had found walnuts earlier, and we spent almost an hour breaking and eating them. The biggest portion of the day had passed and we knew we didnt have the time to reach the plateau. So used the remaining hours to explore the places we haven’t visited before.
What we found after an hour of cycling was an amazing discovery. A hidden rocky place with rivers, trees and waterfalls. I haven’t even heard that this place existed on that almost barren mountain. But we found it and had some great time there. Very nice uknown place in a very well known mountain! This is why we should stop planning and start exploring! Photographs do little justice to it, unfortunately!
