Second trip to the holy mountain

We spend this weekend one more time in Varasova, the holy mountain of Aitolia as they call it because of its rich religious history, full of hermits, churches and monasteries. All of them are ruins now and you can’t find much about them. But we wanted to sleep one more time in the caves (the middle group this time) because they are the most interesting from a speleological point of view. We found some ruins from an old monastery near the opening and some wall paintings as well.

The temperature inside the cave was pretty fine (outside was cold) and we slept fast and easily. The floor was full of goat shit and that, for the ones who haven’t tried, it’s the perfect natural matress ! Before the night sleep we tried to climb over to the top but we were tired and the lack of light made the hiking very hard. Next morning, we ate some apples and cold pizza and run again for the top. The view was amazing! Very nice relaxing moments!
